Steam on Screen Immerses Topeka Students in Learning Experiences during School Breaks

The historic Jayhawk Theatre in Topeka, Kan., is giving back to its community in a big way.
The theater has teamed up with the Boys & Girls Club of Topeka to offer STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and math) programs during school breaks, WIBW reports.
Students in grades K-2 have been exploring the theater's famous fa ? ade as part of the "STEAM on Screen" program.
On Tuesday, they watched a screening of Wonder, which tells the story of a student who crafts a movie projector for a science competition.
"The creative programming is designed to engage children, keep young minds stimulated, and help gain confidence while maximizing out-of-school time," says Shane Warta of the Topeka Community Foundation, which is funding the program.
"By engaging and inspiring young minds, we are enhancing their creative thinking and problem-solving skills, laying a foundation for their success in the years to come," says Jeff Carson, president of the Jayhawk Theatre's board.
